=== Workstation on a Disk [TM] ===
Workstation on a Disk [TM] is my new software performance concept whereby
administrative users of this program have the performance of a $3,900
industry-specific workstation.
One concrete example is the implementation of Alternate Phone Numbers. To
see it, go into the Main Program Menu, Option 1) Patient File. Once you
have selected option 1, observe the 'G' selection for G)et Patient. Upon
your entering the 'G' key, you will see the first patient record in the
test data for Dentist's Assistant [TM]. On the bottom right of the screen
is this definition of the function keys for each Patient record:
F1 = Background F7 = Flash Report
F2 = Tag/Untag F8 = Dial Phone
F3 = Quick Label F9 = Hang up Phone
F4 = Memo F10 = Detail File
F6 = Act Now ALT F1 = More Phones
Once you select ALT F1, the program presents the "Alternate Phone Number
Options" Menu. This feature gives you an additional 20 alternate phone
numbers PER Patient. For each of the 20 phone numbers, you can enter an
area code and a descriptive phrase. Each description can be up to 40
characters. In addition to the Patient Get screen, this option is also
available in the Activity Add, Activity Get, and Activity Callback screens.
As robust as this new feature is, it requires only 10 characters per
patient record, using a Paul Sax-designed variable field PHONE_2 in the
main file.
Workstation on a Disk [TM] is a trademark of Paul Sax and ACS
This comprehensive Windows [TM] 3.1/3.11 program employs standard
setting 'pathless' programming designed by Paul Sax. By using internal
seeking logic, this program can be installed on any drive C through Z.
Windows [TM] likewise can have been installed on that range of drives too.
Once installed, this program will correctly seek and find itself on any
drive. Once you exit this program, it then similarly seeks, finds,
and returns to Windows [TM].
'Pathless' programming means that this application program will be
immediately usable without your having to reboot or to modify your 'path'
command.
It also has an internal Printer Definitions Menu that contains over 5,000
definitions, and give this program unparalleled flexibility in creating
reports and schedules.
You can access this feature anywhere in this program, once having made any
selection at its Main Program Menu, by entering [F1], then 'B'. The
Printer Definitions Menu is a small portion of the Background Options Menu
that you can invoke anytime by pushing the function key, [F1].
Those definitions will speak directly to your printer from this application
program and include these printers:
HP LaserJet [TM] II laser printers:
HP LaserJet [TM] 4/III laser printers:
[PCL5 scalable font support]
HP DeskJet [TM] printers:
[or any PCL3 compatible printer]
HP LaserJet [TM] I.
A broad range of dot matrix printers.
The Printer Definitions Menu will also convert files from your word processor
into ASCII or text.
Word processors supported are:
Word for DOS [TM]
Word for Windows [TM]
Windows Write [TM]
WordPerfect for DOS [TM]
WordPerfect for Windows [TM]
Ami Pro [TM]
Once selected, it will first locate your starting word processor file, and
will then ask you to enter the name under which you wish your new ASCII file
to be created in this subdirectory. This feature makes it a snap to bring
files from other sudirectories into the extensive word processing import
features built in the memo fields of this program.
The Printer Definitions Menu also converts PC-extended text from file(s) and
produces postscript output to any postscript printer.
HP PCL is the Hewlett-Packard Printer Control Language.
